What Is ACMS? The Delhi IoT Fire-Monitoring Mandate Explained

The rules do not stop at the alarm panel. An ACMS is expected to monitor the full firefighting system, including:

  • Hydrant pumps — main, standby (diesel and electric), jockey and booster pumps, including power and running status
  • Fire water tanks — underground and overhead water levels
  • Sprinkler risers — line pressure and flow
  • Fire alarm control panels — alarm, fault and status conditions, on any OEM panel
  • Manual call points and detection systems
  • Pressurisation fans and basement ventilation

In other words, the ACMS has to see everything that would need to work during an actual fire — not just whether an alarm sounds.

How an ACMS Works

An ACMS is an IoT (Internet of Things) system. Small monitoring devices are connected to your existing pumps, tanks, sensors and panels. These devices read the status of each system and transmit it to a secure cloud platform over the internet — typically machine-to-machine using an encrypted protocol such as MQTTS, connected via 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
